It's been years. You’re a woman of wisdom now. A mind in constant motion. You can stop pretending you don't have the answers. You knew them all along. It just felt better to try and re-write the story.

It wasn't rejection. It was retreat.

It wasn't selfishness. It was selflessness and self-preservation.

It was always what was agreed upon, back when you burned through the hours and curated that fragile, fleeting sanctuary. It was ephemeral, but it was real. No retcons.

You can't keep everything. Some things burn bright fast and scatter like cosmic gold across the galaxy. Did you know there's more beauty out there now?

It hurt then. But it would have been worse to accept a lie to diminish it.

It formed you. Thank goodness... it formed you.

And all for the better.
